Out server was really nice and attentive. Calamari was good, but tasted a bit reheated per my husband. Flounder and bbq chicken with guduo mac n cheese was good. She crab soup was free with check in and it was good. Dessert came from a bday party in the table behind us celebrating a gentleman turning 90. That was pretty awesome! They were singing and having a great time. :-) I like this place and plan to visit again when I'm back in the area.

Great breakfast, and good service. Grits were above par. The sausages are home-made. The eggs are well scrambled. Our server was attentive and on point. I love how Charleston restaurants pre-separate checks for everyone!

Go anywhere but here! Tiny menu, meh food, and pricy. It is air conditioned and the drinks were cold other than that...keep on walking.

There were 5 people in my party. We were seated quickly and our waitress took our orders in a timely manner. We got our drinks right away and our food came in about 15 minutes. All of our orders were correct and our food was hot. I got the steak sandwich. It was huge and delicious. Our service was friendly and prompt and we had no complaints!

Just came in for drinks. Decided to try the calamari, which was delicious!!!! Hubby said if he could bottle the sauce and take it home he would. The She Crab soup was also delicious. Glad I tried it!

I've been here twice now since it changed management and the theme a bit and had great experiences both times. One of the cleanest and more polished places to eat on Folly, good for big groups too. I've had the She Crab Soup which was great and of course I have try Biscuits N Gravy when on the menu and theirs is awesome, more like a Tasso Ham gravy and nice portion for the price. I will defiantly be back for dinner. Also this place donates space for the local Farmers Market so that's pretty cool!!!

It was a busy Sunday at folly beach. We decided to try this restaurant. We had a great server Nicole and she made great suggestions. We had she crab soup and seared ahi tuna over fingerling potatoes and peas. Delicious

We were vacationing in Folly Beach and decided on the grill because it was close by. I will start by saying that two of us at the table are food industry professionals - only to say that we understand that not every experience will be perfect, but we do have standards. The food was expensive ($20 per plate for bar food!), mediocre and we received poor service. We were a party of seven and we were seated right away. The waitress took our orders and everything was good. After a few minutes, three of our dinners were brought to the table. and the other four of us waited 15 minutes for our food. We didn't see the waitress again and there were no refills of drinks at this point. The three who got their food waited on everyone else - so basically their food got cold and the rest of us just sat there staring at their plates. The waitress finally came out to apologize and someone at our table asked to speak to a manager. The "manager" was probably 22 and took the whole thing a little less than seriously. He just seemed sleezy and like it was funny that we were complaining. He ended up giving everyone 50% off their bill, which was the right thing to do - but I would definitely recommend doing some research and finding somewhere else to go if you are visiting Folly Beach. Oh yeah - and the band that night was HORRIBLE. They were a bunch of guys from different bands just messing around on their instruments and really just wanted the free beer. That part alone was enough to make us want to leave. Ask the locals where they go eat - that was where we had the best luck with food.

Enjoyed a really delicious shrimp soft taco with slaw and a delicious sauce. Really fresh, tasty shrimp. Very tasty but without a side and at $10 over- priced.

I was hesitant about visiting due to the negative reviews but I'm glad I did. We were seated, right away and our drinks came out right away. We ordered the flatbread, she crab soup, and the tuna bites. Tuna bites were super fresh and yummy and the she crab soup was tasty. The flat bread was... Ok. Undercooked and doughy. Our waiter was Dillon and he did an amazing job, there was also a man who sat us and cleaned off the table right away for us (we requested a table that someone had just gotten up). The manager was also walking around and checking on tables 5 for customer service.

We went here for dinner. Don't be turned off by the rough appearance of the tables/atomism here. Everything is wonderful past that. The crab soup was large and delicious, lots of crab meat. The lobster mac and cheese was phenomenal, best we've had in a long time. #1 and #2 fish tacos came out huge and both styles tasted great. We would definitely come back! New management was awesome.

The selection was great! Better than your typical grab and go food. The atmosphere was appropriate and fun! I had the privilege to meet the owners wife at the time of our visit and they are wonderful people who are trying to turn this place around. It's close to the beach. I ordered the taco and the blue heaven rendezvous and both were delicious. My kids who are picky eaters ordered seconds for their burgers. My older son took the Gouda cheese off his bacon burger but commented that it was the best one he has had In awhile. I would recommend this to anyone who would come to Folly Beach.

I'm not sure why so many bad reviews. We went with a group of 4 on a Tuesday. We were greeted immediately by the bartender and sat quickly by the owners wife. She was patient while we decided what we wanted and answered all of our menu questions. Appetizers - calamari. The portion size was huge and the fried pepper strips and lemon wedge that was included was and unexpected but delicious change of pace. The dipping sauce was sweet and spicy. Spinach asparagus dip - served will char grilled pitas. Generous portion size for the price and it was good. We ran out of pitas or we probably would have eaten more. Entrees BBQ chipotle Mac and cheese w/BBQ chicken- creamy and delicious Folly fried combo- huge portion, no complaints Gumbo- my son ate all of it and wanted more. The corn bread was a little hard and when my son told our server she brought him a fresh piece. Steak( sorry i don't remember what kind)- cooked perfect served with what might be the best fries I've ever put in my mouth. FRIES - we ordered an extra side of fries..... They were that good.... Our server was owners wife. She was friendly, fast and accommodating. Please don't disregard based on the negative reviews. It's worth a try! We will be back on next years trip.

First time on the Folly Beach...(from the PNW) after an afternoon of looking for shells...my chum and I decided to wander about the village... we dropped by this place because of the out door sitting... and my friend said she was told this was good... was early dinner time...on a fabulous Fall day...parking was no problem...and the place was bare...we ordered a grilled tuna app...that was tasty... had m-r...slaw underneath was good but had way to much dressing... she had a flat bread with many veggie toppings cheese... that looked tasty... she said was good...but would order something different next time... I had a ceasar with shrimp...shrimp was tasty fresh...Ceasar was okay dressing was not as flavorful as I enjoy...very bland...needed anchovies...more garlic...and lea and perrin...lemon wedge...but for the $$ just okay... service was good...at first my friend said she thought our server was not to happy to be here...ha but she got better...hard job to do...

Worst staff experience ever. If I could I would give 0 stars. I was in folly beach the week 6/06-6/13 and decided to try this place out. Waited at the host stand that said to wait to be seated for about 7 minutes. After making eye contact with two of the outside servers, I decided to ask if anyone was going to seat us. The server then proceeded to act extremely rude and annoyed then told us to go seat ourselves. We just turned around and walked right out. Sucks for him because he lost a party of 8 and I'm a waitress so I always tip very well. Later that day my friends ate there without knowing our bad experience. Server forgot to put in the app, when my friends asked about it the server showed no interest of apologizing and never acted like he cared to wait on them. My friends said the manager was nice and apologized. Service seriously sucked on two occasions, which sucks because pictures looked yummy. Avoid if you can.

My husband and I visited this restaurant 4 times during a week's vacation in Folly Beach because it is a step above the usual bar/junk food places generally found in a beach town. We loved the patio which was fun but not too noisy. The wait staff was super-friendly, and we had an especially fun night when Laura was our waitress. She was so attentive and let us take up a table for several hours on Bluegrass Night (Thursday's). But the great menu is what brought us back night after night: flatbread pizzas, monster seafood tacos, and gourmet burgers were all better than average. And the grilled romaine salad: I have no words!!!! So delicious!

Typical "beach bar" with typical food and a list of beers and liquors. Very friendly service. Could bring my bike in the restaurant as I do not have a lock for it. Service is fast and adequate. Food is good. Would come back.

Just had dinner here - Delicious! Being from NY, my husband and I love to try local restaurants and what they offer . Hubby had the seafood skillet- crab cake, shrimp over lobster mac and cheese - best Mac and cheese ever! Light sauce, which was delicious ( I am not a fan usually because of the non- healthy aspects of mac and cheese ). He loved the whole dish. Accompanied by veggie gazpacho - yummy . Ok - now me: grilled sea bass and Thai chile noodles . The fish, although not grilled ( very lightly deep (?) fried, was so delicious. So lightly fried that it still felt healthy. The veggies on the noodles were delicious - Wine good , lemon ginger mojito was great - recommend to anyone in the area for a good meal that didn't cost a fortune AND typical beach grill atmosphere - thanks

I hosted our family reunion this year so I needed to find a reasonably priced restaurant that could comfortably seat at least 40+ people together and that served quality local cuisine. After searching for the better part of a year, I decided on the Grill & Island Bar. The owner graciously kept in contact via email as we decided on the buffet menu. Even with last minute seating changes, Grill & Island Bar graciously accommodated us and served the most delicious buffet dinner put together especially for the event. The food and service were absolutely impeccable! Needless to say, my husband and I are now regulars there.

We came here for lunch after a cool dolphin tour with Charleston Adventure Tours. We picked it because there was available parking, which is apparently something unique in Folley ;) The service was good & the food was decent. My son & I both had cheese burgers. I asked for mine medium, but it was well done. It still tasted good though. It just doesn't have a very extensive lunch menu. I was hungry, so a burger hit the spot. Normally I like to have something light for lunch. This would not have worked for that. My only complaint was that it was really cold outside, but they had the doors open. We were freezing. They wouldn't close the door when we asked. That is weird customer service.

They don't pay attention. I ordered a margarita with salt, no salt! How can you forget that. Told waitress, no one offered us anything, not even a 'sorry'. This was lunch time, food was ok and plentiful. Service was ok. Tables and the entire Restaurant, needs a refresh. I know it has been through a few owners, but still needs work. Better than most but need a little love to bet best. Oh, I had ordered the fried calamari, which was good. Someone came over and asked if I wanted another order free. They had made too much! I thanked them and said no because I was full. Nice touch, but why not give it to the help? Frank G

We have given this restaurant several tries and it just doesn't work. A flounder sandwich was what we really wanted! When asked if they'd do that the answer was no! Even though they have fried flounder and bread they wouldn't sell a sandwich! Instead we ordered a fish taco. It wasn't a taco at all ! Instead it was grilled fish in pita bread with cole slaw! It was served at room temperature. When making the complaint to the waitress. She offered no solution and still kept it on the bill! Unless they improve their service and menu soon It will be our last visit

If the shrimp and grits hadn't been good I would have given this 1 star and complained that I couldn't give 0. We waited 15 minutes to order drinks and we didn't see food until we had been there an hour. I ordered a burger medium and it came out burnt and grey. The drinks were mediocre and the service was non existent. We asked do condiments many times and didn't receive them. The only good part was the shrimp and grits. Don't go if you have anywhere to be for the rest of the day. The friends we went with wanted to give it a second chance and said their second time was worse than the first. Terrible service for over priced food that's not even good. We will not be back

I have eaten there twice now. The first time (July 25) the food was wonderful. Amazing shrimp n grits were melt in your mouth. The best I've had. My boyfriend enjoyed the crab cake sandwich. We also had fried green tomato's... Delicious. Yum. BUT the drink I ordered was suppose to have absolut vodka, and it tasted awful. I could not even pretend to drink it. I did not mention it, just did not drink it. We returned August 25. The meal was very good, again. Fried green tomato's again and The shrimp n grits. The shrimp n grits were not as good as the first time, but still very good. I did not risk ordering another drink. My boyfriend ordered the special, wolffish. It was really good, but he really kept saying how amazing the greens were. I love the outdoors seating. It wonderful. Made for two very nice dates. We will be back Probably Sept 25 :-) Aye here again. Actually we have been here several times now and the food is always great!

A group of 6 of us had dinner here the other night. It was great that they were able to accommodate a big party and especially one who was on crutches. The service was fine, and he didn't seemed annoyed when we asked to do separate checks. My group started with the Crabby Corn Fritters that even I liked (I don't like crab.) Though there didn't seem to be enough to share between 3 people, so maybe get more than one order if you're going to share with a larger group. Being from South Jersey, I was completely surprised when the Folly Beach Rich Boy was described as coming on a hoagie roll and thus had to try this. The roll was very good, but I wish they had gutted it some to hold all the filling better. Most of the shrimp and stuff fell out while I was trying to eat it. 2 in our party got the shrimp and grits which was the stand-out dish, everyone said they wished they had gotten it. My mom and aunt both got the grilled shrimp and both were disappointed in it. They both said it wasn't cooked well and bland. This is definitely a quick easy place to hit after the beach.

First time here after the new changes. My wife and I have been going here for a few years. The new menu is different to say the least. It is attached to a plank of wood! Now that's cool. The menu items were much different than the last time I went. Wanted fried shrimp and fries, they didn't have it so I got the grilled romaine salad my wife got the jerk chicken sandwich. First off my salad was amazing! Glazed walnuts, goat cheese, strawberries with a vinaigrette. My wife said her sandwich was wonderful and came with a small amount of fries which was what she wanted. Our server was Gretchen and she did a fine job. Took 20 minutes for our food to get to the table even though there was only two other tables plus us, but that was ok. The prices for our meal was only 23 bucks which isn't to bad. It was a nice experience but the food I normally like to eat wasn't available. It was a good experience overall.

So good! I live 3 miles down the road and haven't heard much about this place. Tried it out for lunch today and was very impressed. The $6 margaritas were a great value. The crab cake was delicious and the fried seafood couldn't have been better. The fried flounder was the best I've had in a while and their tarter sauce was great as well. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend it.

Bad service, bad food. It's a holiday weekend and this restaurant is terribly understaffed. Unapologetic, other tables (sat 20 and 30 minutes after) received food before our table, and seating 2 tops at tables suit for 7. Absolute wreck. There are much better restaurants on folly beach than this. When the owner was asked about the condition of the service and seating times, as opposed to apologizing he argued with the table and continued to make up excuses about why a wait time of 25 minutes was given and at least an hour later we were finally seated- and split up as a party. Way to cap off the 4th of July evening. Will never darken the door of this establishment again, and I recommend going to anther restaurant on folly

    (1)
  • Sean N.

This is my first and I never review restaurants but I would NEVER!!!! recommend anyone eat at this Establishment it took over 40 minutes to be seated it seemed like no one knew what they were doing the food was horrible the service was a total joke the food was not nothing is as expected but the problem was there was a hair in the food and on the plate which had to be seen by the chef or someone that prepared the food that had to be sent back and it took another 25 minutes to get the food back out to me the owner is a total joke That cares nothing about his business or the service that he gives his customers it's all about throwing food on a plate to make money

So apparently me and other Yelp reviewers of the Greater Folly Beach area restaurants are clearly divided. I'm going to compare this restaurant to the other places I have visited so far in the area, and it definitely outshines the rest so far. We ate here on a Saturday evening after a long day of driving, tensions were high, and alcohol was a must. We ventured out of our rental and walked here. We were drawn by the clean appearance, outside seating, and enjoyable live music. Comparatively speaking, the decor is a breath of fresh air compared to the old wood decks, sandy bathroom floors, and muddy trucks parked in the vast majority of the other 'finer' eating establishments here. We walked in, were greeted before we even walked up, sat in a nice size booth, waitress (who also was the bartender) greeted us right away, shuffled off to get us waters, then took our drink order. In no way shape or form did we ever wait or want for anything. All the service, including the delivery of our food was accomplished with a team effort, and logistically ran smoother than UPS on a Sunday. We arrived around 6:30 pm and were OVERJOYED to hear that $2.75 Strawberry Margaritas were on HH--Hooray for booze!!!!! Just what the weary traveler needed!!!! Pops and I ordered 2 and Mom got water (she's boring). We were hungry but not starving so decided to share a couple of things. We shared: (see pix) 1- corn and crab nugget appetizer-- served w/ a Remoulade sauce---these were fantastic, 6 to an order so we each got 2. Creamy, chunky, not fishy, fried perfectly, man I wish they made this into a crab cake...hint hint 2-Fried green tomato, pimento cheese, and bacon sammie with fries. Personally, I would get it next time w/out the pimento cheese and the bacon, both flavors were so strong they took away from the fried green tomatoes in my opinion. However, Mom's loved this one, she's a big fan of pimento cheese. Fries were delicious too! 3- Fried Flounder sandwich with the amazing pineapple Wasabi coleslaw. Fish was perfectly fried, had just a slight dusting of batter, no fishy taste whatsoever, and was awesome to say the least. Definitely top 3 fried fish sandwiches I have ever had. And the coleslaw is just the right mix of heat and sweet. We all agreed this place was a B+ restaurant at the time, BUT since we have eaten at a couple of other local establishments this one is shining in comparison. Lastly, our bill with tip was $50--2 sandwiches, appie, and 4 margaritas can't beat that with a bat! Dad required us to go back so he can try their She Crab soup...2nd update to come.

We were a party of 4 and the restaurant was perhaps 1/2 full when we arrived at 7pm. We were immediately seated that was the extent of our service. No one greeted us in any way after the seating- no water, no drink order not even a "be with you in a moment" word from any of the various staff who were in and out of of our eyesight We tried to guess who our server would be but no one acknowledged us or made eye contact. It does not seem that there is any adult supervision of the staff. After 20 minutes we left. I told the young hostess that no greeted us after seating so we were leaving. Too bad for the owner. We went down the street and had a nice $200 dinner there instead!

Food is mediocre for price, they were out of 2 things we tried to order (one was removed from the menu but was still on the website) and were otherwise unimpressive. There are far too many good places to eat at Folly Beach to eat here. Ordered the BBQ Chicken and Mac and Cheese, was fairly bland, though their BBQ sauce was good. They didn't seem to have their stuff together, as they were completely out of all Margarita items at 6:30pm during prime vacation time. Really? Service was pretty slow, their complimentary soup for check-in was good, but having to share water at the table because the waitress won't return to refill drinks isn't ok... Not recommended, our visit last year to this place was OK, but has declined. Atmosphere could be good, but is pretty "meh". UPDATE: As if they needed another opportunity to make an impression, the charge on our card came in $80 higher than it should have after tip. Looking for the receipt, trying to get it rectified, will dispute charges if needed. Avoid this place like the plague... Very unfortunate decision trying it again.

I've been here a couple time and enjoyed it. The grilled Mahi Mahi hoagie was tender and juicy. Last time, we had brunch with mimosas. I had flavorful biscuits and gravy. My girlfriend had scrambled eggs. Accompanying potatoes were lackluster. We ate outside on the spacious covered deck. We had originally intended to eat at Rita's, but they were jam-packed. It's a little walk to The Grill (a few blocks and cross a busy street), but worth the sweat. Prices are on par for the area, and service is reasonable. Not slow, and friendly.

This place is spot on. The inlet flatbread is the perfectly balanced blend of flavors if you like a bite of jalapeño. The fried flounder was the best I have ever eaten. The gumbo I good but very, very spicy (be warned).

The host say us immediately and got us some waters. It then took 15 mins for the male server to get our order. Another 10+mins for 2 beers. We ordered an app of fried green hockey pucks. Worst I've ever had. Luckily he took them off the bill. We felt like he was bothered by us being there. Worst waiter I've had in a long time.

Is clear that the ownership has a vision of making it a top-notch restaurant on the island, but the only thing that's there already were the prices. The food was good, don't get me wrong, and the patio seating with the band was cool, but if you want simple, local seafood, this might not be your place. What they DO have that you would want is a New Orleans chef who has delicious creole-inspired dishes. If you're in the mood for something like that, then this IS a great place & choice for you.

As it turned out this is where my wife and I had our 45th anniversary dinner. It was only suppose to be lunch @ Rita's but we couldn't find a parking place and by the time we drove around we went here and it was 4pm. We both had burgers, her's with BBQ sauce and mine with carmelized onions and gouda. Both were cooked medium rare and perfect. We could have shared the fries - they were good but more than we could eat. I only gave it 3 stars because the place needs a serious face lift. We have lived in SC for 15 years and this is the first time this place has been open and we come to Folly regularly. Great service and good food - just need to get new tables and chairs and it could be great. The parking lot is a BIG plus for Folly!

Too bad that you can't give zero stars! I've never walked out if a restaurant before, but after 15 minutes of no hostess, and we seared ourselves, and the waitress kept walking past us, made no eye contact, nothing. A waiter attempted to help us, brought us water, and then 10 more minutes went by...nothing...they apparently didn't want our money or our business. DON'T BOTHER!!!!

Bad service, overpriced, bad food. Service was super slow even though we were one of maybe 3 tables eating and there were at least 10 staff members on hand hanging out. Small fish sandwich (nothing special) was $10 and came with no sides. On the plus side the kids loved their cheesy flatbread and there was plenty I parking. Won't be retuning here.

Brunch on a Sunday am, had the shrimp and grits. Shrimp were slightly undercooked, not fully cleaned and drown in a huge bowl of bland grits. Price I was charged was $2 more than listed on the menu. Kids menu was over priced. $6 for 2 scrambled eggs and one small piece of bacon seems steep. Underwhelmed. Wish I had waited for a table at lost dog next door.

Pretty awful food. I had a burger and it was so overcooked and unfortunately I couldn't even eat it. My husbands meal was also pretty gross. They forgot to put the main course of his meal on his plate. Bad service. Our server never checked on us. We had to wait 20 mins to get our overpriced check because she was no where to be found. Way over priced. We were pretty furious, it was our most expensive meal on the island and neither of us could eat more than 2 bites before feeling physically ill. There are so many more wonderful places on the island, please don't waste your money here.

Our server Daniel was great! Try the fried shrimp: crispy, tender, and delicious! Skip the lemon ginger mojito, get a shot of fireball or a beer instead.

Stopped in because the place had a good Zagat rating on Google and there were parking spaces available (parking places are hard to find on Folly Beach). We were asked by a server if we wanted to sit inside or outside, so we chose outside and she told us to pick any table. We found the cleanest table we could and waited outside for several minutes as a couple of servers rolled up the vinyl window coverings which had been down during some thunder showers and as a hostess cleaned up the Wasabi Cole Slaw she had flung onto the ground while taking food out to a table as we walked up to the front door. After about 10 more minutes of being ignored, we left and headed to Rita's...well worth the $10 parking to get served immediately at Rita's, no matter how slammed they are. I'd not recommend the Grill on the Edge to anybody. Sorry, y'all! You blew it with us.

open clean outdoor seating, not too crowded...peaceful had a mimosa and waited for a late breakfast about noon Sunday after an early beach outing. Service was a bit not too quick, somewhere between a snail and a hare.... had basic scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, cheese grits....bacon was fatty and not brown or crispy... cheese.grits were yummy except for a slice of onion it it...took it out eggs were eggs...can't really screw eggs up enjoyed the little chopped fried potatoes off my boyfriend's plate...he had a cheesy sausage and biscuit/gravy and fried potatoes dish. outdoor seating could use a couple more ceiling fans than two ? Not doing the Snoopy dance, but left feeling satisfied with the food and service.

Had good food here two nights in a row. Nice folks. Service fast enough. Crispy and tasty fried shrimp and green tomatoes. French fries great. Poor service from earlier reviews were last Saturday when a large street festival had the island covered in folks.

We walked in and were told to wait five minutes with plenty of tables open. We waited while a larger party walked in and was seated immediately. After at least 5 more minutes we finally asked a server if we could be seated and she begrudgingly took us to a booth. The entire visit took almost an hour and a half in a very empty restaurant. Nothing we ordered was difficult and nothing was very good. I wouldn't come back here again. Everything was bland and tasted like they used cheap ingredients. The mac and cheese tasted like they used cheap nacho cheese and just melted real cheese on top. It certainly wasn't worth $35 plus tip. While the service got more polite, it still wasn't what I expect when visiting a dining establishment. I will not be back.

Longest I have ever waited for lunch. And the staple condiment on the grouper sandwich...pineapple salsa...they have run out of it. Not a good start.

Good beach atmosphere and outdoor seating. Unfortunately we had a long wait to be seated because no one was paying attention to the host station. We then waited a considerable amount of time for our food when there were only 7 tables with anyone at them. Food was mediocre.

Two stars for the patio seating and the jazz music. Otherwise this place gets 0-1 stars. Waited 20 minutes for a table even though three were empty. Hostess wasn't friendly. They call this place a bar but only have three beers on two. By far the worst part was the food. Everything was bland, no flavor, and boring. The menu is nothing special. If you're in The Charleston area, there are so many better places to go.

Went to Folly for Folly Palooza and the streets were crowded with people and so were most of the restaurants. The fact that we were seated so quickly in a mostly empty restaurant during a crowded festival should have been our first warning. After we were seated (by the manager or maybe the owner, who was very polite) we were allowed ample time to look over the menu. Server after server passed by our table with not so much as a look. Finally someone went and asked the manager/owner (the person who seated us) when we could expect service and he asked, "where are you sitting?" Finally a server then showed up who took our order without writing anything down. He did so with such self assurance that we thought all would be well. Needless to say he may want to start writing things down in the future. The food was okay, par for the Folly tourist restaurants, outside of the order being wrong and the shrimp n' grits having a standing pool of slimy oil on the top. The owner/manager was very polite and helpful (eventually) but the experience has left a bad taste.

I went there with my boyfriend, sister and her friend who were both here from nc. I took them to this restaurant expecting great food and great service. I was wrong. No one took our drink order for at least 15 min. Then it took almost an HOUR for our food to come out. This was during lunch. I used to be a server and the longest lunch times should take is 10-12 min. We paid $2.00 for sodas in which we never got refills for. Our server didn't even check on us when we did finally get our food. We won't be back!

Whole flounder is mild and very delicious. Wasabi pineapple coleslaw is not to be missed. Key lime pie is tasty but ask them to serve it without the honey on the plate. It ruins the mild flavor of the pie. Friendly service. Ate outdoors with a cool seabreeze. Very nice casual atmosphere.

After our debacle at the Crab Shack we made our way over to The Grill on The Edge. Overall I wasn't very impressed. The place looked kind of cool- sort of Saved by the bell (the max) meets beach. Our server looked like he literally just rolled out of bed. He wasn't bad or anything but it was kind of gross. I started with a cup of she-crab soup which was good- but no Lost Dog Cafe's Next I had the Rachel sandwich (which was like a turkey Reuben). It was almost sickeningly sweet and therefore I only ate half - out of necessity since I was hungry. It really was gross. I didn't return it though but possibly other options are better. The french fries were awesome though- so make sure you get some of those. I did happen to try a bite of the black bean soup (just ok) and chicken fried steak- yuck. I would probably not choose to go back again.

I would have rated it higher except for the EXCRUCIATINGLY SLOW service. The place was not busy. Only 3 beers on tap. I ordered a Dogfish head IPA and the server brought it out in a bottle with no glass. I am not a beer snob, but this was not a Sludge-weiser. My spouse ordered the custom build your own pasta. She loved it....al-dente with Kalamata olives. My flounder over risotto was bland, but totally acceptable. There are better places on Center St to dine.

Ate here twice last week and both times I was very pleasantly surprised. I was not running the high hurdles as I was hungry like the wolf. Had the flounder and shrimp basket --- the fish was very, very moist and forkable with a very nice sauce tartar while the shrimp were just perfect and juicy and fat with a very nice remoulade. Breading did not overpower the seafood. No complaints. Service was good and they knew what an Arnold Palmer was, so good on them. The open air booths were generous and the temperature was just right. A wonderful time was had by all and I will definitely be coming back. Surprised at all the haters and bad reviews. Beer was cold.

YIKES! I would be hard pressed to find anything good to say about our experience there Sunday, May 4th. They lost my reservation, for a party of 8, for a graduation and birthday celebration even though I talked to Jason personally! Daniel, our server was bland and uppity. The food came out cold, over-cooked and the crab benedict that was ordered came with hard boiled eggs and when it was sent back for fresh, we were told there were NO MORE eggs and it was still brunch! When the check came, it was up-charged for fries that we never got! The manager never came by to chat even though he walked by the table 3 times.! this was a table of Food and Beverage professionals! We called him out at the end but he still never "comped" anything although he admitted he knew there was a problem. We will never go back and will tell everyone not to go there! We live on James Island and eat at the beach regularly! Unbelievable!

She crab soup is good. Service is good. Meal was oyster basket and they're huge and cooked pretty good. Not sure if it was the size of them or if they were a little under-cooked but they were a little slimey. Good taste though. Sat outside and it's a good lunch spot. They were not as busy as some other places....

We ended up here since it was not crowded and we had 3 kids in our group. Loved it! Strangest, most wonderful thing ever was the fried lemon slices which were served with the calamari. Totally unexpected flavor and would have eaten an entire basket of them. Crab cakes were very lumpy and fresh and probably the best i've had in ages. Service was fairly good. Definitely recommend eating outdoors to enjoy the weather and pedestrian traffic.

Calamari was great, and it's not a easy task for most. Second best I've had. The sweet chili sauce served with it was the tits. The pork chop was cooked perfectly! It had a smoked bacon glaze, so awesome.

Not a bad little joint off center street. Check in for a free cup of SHE crab soup, not bad but could use a little hot sauce. The wasabi slaw (instead of fries with a sandwich Is really good, very unique flavor for a vinegar based cole slaw that compliments the sandwich very well.

Not exactly to my liking. I was there on pasta night which is cooked to order, it was much too salty. I should have complained but instead I just had another beer. I highly doubt I will return although on the plus side they did have entertainment which was enjoyable.

Good stuff, start the meal off right with a mojito! They hit the spot after a long day at the beach. We started the meal off with she crab soup and I must say, we were not disappointed. Great flavor with a bunch of lump crab meat. My kind of she crab! After that, the meal went downhill. Not exacty what the reviews lived up to. My meal was very plain, shrimp and steak skewers. Nothing special about it.

Dined at this great Folly Beach jewel on our last night of vacation. We enjoyed the outdoor dining with live music. The server was amazing. You could tell she enjoyed working there. Met the owner and gained a new friend. I had she-crab soup which was out of this world. Also had a cheeseburger which is now rated as the best burger I ever had. My husband had fried oysters and said it was delicious. Wish we had found this place on our first night! Everyone made you feel welcome and wanting to come back for more. Just wish I lived closer. Kudos to all staff and management. You do Folly proud!

Service was good. The waiter was not aware of the free soup offer thru Yelp. The she-crab soup wasn't available, but a small salad was substituted. I had the recommended fried flounder and shrimp. I liked the flounder but the advertised local shrimp were ordinary. I should have tried grilled but there were none on the lunch menu. The fries were good but the wasabi pineapple slaw looked tired.

Let's seeeee, no pitchers of beer (but has pitchers of water), no buns for cheeseburgers?, no shrimp?, and the crackers served with the crab dip consisted of 6 packs of two club crackers for a party of 7. The foreign waitress told us about 5 times there were no buns for the burgers and said ominously that they could be served on anything but decided not to do any further research into the matter. No wonder there was so many open parking spaces!

The restaurant has a very odd decor, kind of 50s Diner meets Miami Beach... Weird. It was too chilly outside, so we sat in the 50s-style booths inside. We started with Mojitos, which were actually GREAT and ended up being the best part of our meal. The service was good too, and if we sat outside it might have been a better atmosphere, but the decorations inside were just a little bit too weird. We also had the She-Crab soup which we split as an app, which was quite yummy with big hunks of crab. Ok that's about all of the positives, our main course sucked. The shrimp skewers were cold, tough, and tasteless. The steak skewers were about the same. We had mac n cheese as a side, unfortunately I think Stouffers would have tasted better. But, the place has a lot of potential and really good service. Other than that... Not too much. Oh yeah, and I had my (over)fill of 90s music in the hour we sat here! Blah. Mix it up a little bit!

Great breakfast, and good service. Grits were above par. The sausages are home-made. The eggs are well scrambled. Our server was attentive and on point. I love how Charleston restaurants pre-separate checks for everyone!

TERRIBLE! We were there with a relatively large party (16) - waited 90 minutes for our food - and it was COLD! They forgot one of our appetizers and the shrimp in my daughter's dish wasn't cleaned (deveined) They said they were short staffed, but that is no excuse to this type of service.

I've been to Folly a couple of times but it was my first time trying this restaurant. At first we were a little peeved with the wait to get a table with nobody in front of us and very little guests in the establishment, but once we were seated our server was fantastic! He was extra helpful and super friendly. I ordered the grilled shrimp with a side of tri colored potatoes and it was amazing. My boyfriend had ordered 2 monster tacos, they were definitely living up to their name. They were huge and full of flavor. I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant next time you're in town!

The grilled mahi is rad. The steak fries are powerful. The she crab soup is majestic. Excellent food. Excellent service. Good music.

Delish! I had the basil pesto pasta and it was fabulous. Hubs really enjoyed the she crab soup and wasabi ahi tuna. Definitely a good spot in Folly!

We had a great experience at the grill. The food gave us a taste of South Carolina! Amy was a great waitress and I recommend it!

Absolutely fabulous! Crab cake dinner was unbelievably good! Sweet corn grilled and the side stuffing/mashed tatoes were beyond delish! She crab soup was also very good and their fries are to die for. Definitely coming back before leaving!

There are better places on Center St to dine.

open clean outdoor seating, not too crowded...peaceful had a mimosa and waited for a late breakfast about noon Sunday after an early beach outing.

Not a bad little joint off center street. Check in for a free cup of SHE crab soup, not bad but could use a little hot sauce. The wasabi slaw (instead of fries with a sandwich Is really good, very unique flavor for a vinegar based cole slaw that compliments the sandwich very well.

The service was so bad that we left before we could order. Terrible hostess. We received the wrong menus and then proceeded to wait 20 min for our waitress to take our order. We finally just left.

  • John C.

Great service and live music but found the food to be mediocre at best. Tried the she-crab soup, tuna appetizer, and calamari but found all three to be lacking flavor and seasoning.

  • Kees v.

  • Brian T.

  • Ian M.
